Student profile picture customization

Aligned. The field already exists in the data model and is wired into the student edit page layout (Cycle 308 — Wave 8). However, the upload UI component was deferred as a Phase 2 item in Cycle 308's RFC. The backend is architecturally ready (field stored, exposed in API responses), but no selection or upload interface has been built yet.

Partial. Clerk (auth provider) has built-in avatar support for parent accounts, and the student profile schema already reserves an column. Estimated scope: small-to-medium — requires a new upload/selection component in the student edit page, MinIO integration for image storage, and age-appropriate avatar options.

This is an interesting and aligned feature request, but currently has 1 vote. We'll revisit at higher vote counts or when the product direction shifts toward deeper student personalization. The groundwork is already in place to implement this quickly when prioritized.

The student data model already has an field, and the UI shows avatar initials as a fallback — so the foundation is partially there. However, there's no image upload flow or customization UI built yet.

This is an engagement/personalization feature. The current roadmap priorities are:

Profile customization doesn't block any of these priorities and isn't covered by an existing cycle (the closest is Cycle 91: Student Workspace, which focuses on learning canvas features, not profile personalization).
